Dedicated Funds

The funds highlighted on this page are Dedicated Funds meaning that support designated by the donor for one of these funds will be used specifically and only to support that fund.

Norma Sluizer Music Therapy Fund

The Norma Sluizer Music Therapy Fund was established as a designated fund at LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation to support the gift of music that brings joy and peace to hospice patients and their loved ones.  Since the Fund’s inception in 2011, the healing gift of music has been provided in a variety of ways like CD’s, MP3 players and live performances involving volunteers who help celebrate special seasons and holidays and a certified practitioner of therapeutic harp music. Our newest program, supported by this dedicated fund, is the nationally acclaimed Music and MemorySM which brings personalized music to those challenged by dementia and other cognitive and physical impairments.  Click here to learn more about the special music programs supported by this Fund.

Alma G. Wise Integrative Therapy Fund

The Alma G. Wise Integrative Therapy Fund was created in loving memory of Alma who served as a hospice volunteer for over twenty years and was one of the first Healing Touch Practitioners in the country.  This fund supports a variety of non-medical, therapeutic programs (integrative therapies) designed to speak to the heart, embrace the soul and ease the burden and stress often associated with the hospice journey.  In addition to funding needed supplies and materials, donations to this fund support special training for staff and volunteers in these unique healing arts.  Click here to learn more about the therapies provided by gifts to this Fund.

Simple Gifts Fund

Simple Gifts was created to fund end-of-life wishes and unfulfilled dreams. There are times when an end-of-life experience can profoundly affect individuals and their family.  It is often something small – the feel of warm sand underfoot; to see the ocean one more time or the chance to go out for a special meal. It may be something quite powerful such as spending time with family or loved ones who have been separated by distance for many years. So often people miss out on this last visit because they simply can’t afford it, the travel is complicated or the distance too great. With Simple Gifts we are able to help overcome these barriers. Jewish Hospice Program Fund

The Jewish Hospice Fund is a dedicated fund created to support the provision of end of life services rooted in an understanding and appreciation of Judaism and Jewish life by professionals who have been educated in the religious traditions and culture of Judaism and the Jewish people.

  • The Fund underwrites educational programs for professionals to familiarize them with the unique needs and concerns of Jewish patients and their families so they appreciate and are sensitive to the diversity of Jewish expression within the Jewish community.
  • Through the generous support of donors, we are also able to fund hospice care for those who otherwise have no means or insurance coverage to provide this special benefit at this most vulnerable time.
  • Donations to this fund support special projects and programs for Jewish hospice patients and the Jewish community.
  • The Jewish Hospice Fund sponsors hospice and palliative care educational programs for the San Diego Jewish Community.
