The We Honor Veterans Ceremony is a formal and meaningful ceremony conducted for veterans receiving care throughout San Diego. Many veterans were never recognized or thanked for their service and sacrifice; this ceremony is often the first time they have ever experienced a proper tribute for their brave service to our country. It is frequently conducted in the presence of family, friends and other loved ones and provides an opportunity for veterans to share their military experiences and stories, often for the first time. Honorees are particularly touched by the retired or active duty and reserve military service men and women who volunteer their time to present the pins and certificates included with each ceremony. It is our privilege to offer these ceremonies made possible by generation donations from Foundation supporters.
“It was so memorable to have had the honor ceremony for Grandfather. It is going to be forever a moment that taught me so much in such a short period of time. I will always look back on that as a very special occasion that I will forever keep locked in my heart as a touching occasion.” ~Grandson of WW II Veteran
“Our sincere thanks for doing such a wonderful military presentation for my husband on what would be the last full day of his journey. Please extend our appreciation to the Lieutenant. for volunteering his services as well. You are all wonderful and caring individuals. We are blessed for having known you.”
~ Wife of Vietnam Veteran
“The Ceremony is truly inspirational for the patients, loved ones, staff and volunteers; essentially all who witness the ceremony. We feel very blessed to be able to recognize our brave Veterans who have sacrificed so much for so many. The family’s response to the ceremony is frequently one that it provides closure to a frequently unresolved spiritual or emotional part of their life. It is an honor to be a part of each Honor Ceremony for countless reasons.”
